With the end of the Cold War, liberal democracy seemed to take hold worldwide. Established democracies tried to support this process. But since the beginning of the new millennium, resistance has been stirring, and increasingly the accusation of imperialism has been raised. In her book, Dorothea G\u00e4deke formulates for the first time normative foundations and limits of external democracy promotion.
