Dorothea ist seit August 2024 Professorin f\u00fcr politische Theorie und Rechtstheorie am Otto-Suhr-Institut der Freien Universit\u00e4t Berlin.<\/div>\n
Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen an der Schnittstelle von Theorien der Macht, struktureller Ungerechtigkeit und Demokratie. Dabei ist es ihr ein besonderes Anliegen, analytische normative Philosophie mit kontinentalen Denktraditionen und nicht-westlicher Philosophie zu verbinden. Im Zentrum stehen Theorien der Beherrschung und die Ausarbeitung eines Kritischen Republikanismus, der den Neo-Republikanismus mit der kantischen Tradition des republikanischen Denkens und der Kritischen Theorie der Frankfurter Schule verbindet. Ihr besonderer Fokus gilt der Analyse von Macht und Beherrschung in den globalen Nord-S\u00fcd-Beziehungen. Ihre Besch\u00e4ftigung mit afrikanischer Philosophie spiegelt ihr Interesse an strukturellen Ungerechtigkeiten wider, indem sie sich mit Beziehungen der Beherrschung innerhalb der akademischen Welt selbst auseinandersetzt.<\/div>\n
Mit dem Thema der Demokratief\u00f6rderung befasste sich Dorothea insbesondere in ihrem Buch \u201ePolitik der Beherrschung. Eine kritische Theorie externer Demokratief\u00f6rderung\u201c (Suhrkamp, 2017). Sie entwickelt darin Kernelemente eines kritischen Republikanismus, um zu zeigen, dass Demokratief\u00f6rderung und der gegen sie erhobene postkoloniale Imperialismus-Vorwurf das gleiche normative Anliegen teilen. Beide, so argumentiert sie, verfolgen das Ziel der Nicht-Beherrschung, dennoch sind beide letztlich in eine Politik der Beherrschung zur\u00fcckgefallen. W\u00e4hrend ihrer T\u00e4tigkeit am Ethics Institute der Universiteit Utrecht war Dorothea Co-Leiterin eines Teilprojekts zu digitalen Technologien und Demokratie im globalen S\u00fcden innerhalb des NWO Gravitation Consortiums Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies<\/i>. Derzeit arbeitet Dorothea vor allem an einem Forschungsprojekt zu Theorien der Freiheit von unten, das ebenfalls von der NWO gef\u00f6rdert wird. Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist sie Principal Investigator am Exzellenzcluster Contestations oft he Liberal Script<\/i><\/div>\n
