Christine is a Project Leader and Senior Researcher at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in Bonn. At IDOS, she co-leads the research project Megatrends Africa as well as a project on the role of the European Union as an actor in global development. In addition, Christine regularly teaches as a Privatdozentin (private lecturer) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

Christine’s research focuses on the intersection of International Relations and comparative politics research. In particular, she analyzes China’s external relations and their impact on political regimes in Africa. Her work also addresses European democracy promotion and the influence of right-wing populist parties on European foreign and development policy. Moreover, Christine studies external and internal factors shaping political regimes in Africa, with a particular emphasis on structural dynamics such as urbanization, digitalization, and demographic change.
