For the month of November, Dr Jeff Bridoux joins Annika Elena Poppe and Jonas Wolff at PRIF to work on a contribution for the network’s planned special issue on democracy promotion negotiation. Jeff is Lecturer in International Politics at Aberystwyth University and has long-standing expertise on democracy promotion and related issues. His current focus lies in developing a new transdisciplinary agenda on “democracy reception”; a project in which he explores how “recipients” and “non-recipients” of democracy promotion in the MENA region make sense of the concept of democracy. This research angle obviously lends itself perfectly to the network’s focus on interaction in democracy promotion and specifically with regard to the question of how negotiation processes are shaped by the perspectives of those at the alleged “receiving” end of democracy promotion.
