On 1 December 2020, the Council of Member States appointed seven new members to the Board of Advisers of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). Among them was Julia Leininger, chair of the research program „Transformations of Political Order: Governance, Values and Peace“ at the German Development Institute (GDI/DIE) and member of the EDP Network.

Together with other high ranking international scientists, diplomats, activists and former political figures, Julia Leininger will join the seven current members to form the Board of Advisers for three years. The body plays a crucial role in the strategic consulting of the Council of Member States and the Secretariat of International IDEA, an intergovernmental organization with the aim of supporting sustainable democracy worldwide.
