Rebecca Wagner
Former EDP Network Member
Rebecca Wagner is a political scientist employed at the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval). She was a research associate at the Institute of Political Science and Sociology in the Chair of International Relations and European Studies at the University of Würzburg from October 2023 until August 2024. From May 2019 until December 2024 she has been working as a coordinator for the EDP network. Rebecca obtained her PhD at the Leibniz Institute for Peace and Conflict Research (PRIF) in the “Intrastate Conflicts” department. In her dissertation, she has been studying the restriction of civic spaces before and after elections. Her research interests lie in the areas of international democracy promotion, election assistance, civil society, and the role of youth in elections.
Before joining PRIF and the EDP network, Rebecca collaborated with civil society in the field of democracy promotion and human rights, particularly on civil society engagement in democratic processes in Brussels and Berlin. She is also trained and experienced in international election observation, working with both civil society and international institutions.
Rebecca received her academic training in Public Administration and European Governance at Leiden University, the Netherlands, in Political and Administrative Sciences at the University of Konstanz, Germany, and in International Relations at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey.
