The PRIF Annual Conference “Dealing with Autocracies in a Fragemented World” took place on the 12th and 13th October.
Benjamin Schütze was part of the second Panel on the first day of the Conference and talked on the topic of Dealing with Autocracies in the MENA Region in Climate and Energy Policies. The first panel of the day dealt wih the topic “Dealing with China in International Development and Infrastructure Policies”.
The first day of the Conference concluded with the presentation of the Ernst Otto Czempiel Prize 2023 to Roger Mac Ginty. The political scientist from Durham University in the UK is being honored for his innovative monography “Everyday Peace: How So-Called Ordinary People Can Disrupt Violent Conflict.” In his monography Roger Mac Ginty explores how people in conflict zones can resist or even disrupt totalizing war logics.
Our member Jonas Wolff was the chair of the third panel on “Dealing with Autocracies in Democracy Promotion” which focussed on democracy promotion in rivalry with and in autocratic states and took place on the second day of the Conference. Jonas Wolff also took part in the final discussion which took place after the fourth panel on “Dealing with Russia in Europe and at the Global Stage”.
