Berlin is an important scienific site in Germany – and the Tagesspiegel has identified 100 personalities who have left their mark on the research region this year. Johannes Gerschewski is one of them. In a globalized world, many challenges can only be overcome within the international community of states. Global comparative regime research is the specialty of political scientist Johannes Gerschewski at the WZB; he is particularly interested in autocracies and young democracies. Because of his expertise, he has also now been appointed as one of 13 Thomas Mann Fellows in Los Angeles for 2024, where he will be working on the value of compromise for democratic societies.
